Two brothers have been arrested for the alleged murder of their 67-year-old grandmother in the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.
The brothers allegedly killed the 67-year-old woman, one Grace Ovbiebo, for money ritual in connivance with two other relatives.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, confirmed the arrest on Monday.
“The two boys killed their grandmother, but the ritual aspect is not part of our investigations,” Kokumo added.
It was learnt that the suspects, identified as Dickson Oluka and Salaye Oluka, had consulted a native doctor about their desire to become wealthy.
They were said to have been advised by the native doctor to strap live tortoises around their backs and kill a close relative, with the assurance that they would become rich afterwards.
It was learnt that the suspects, upon conspiring among themselves, held their grandmother and smashed her head against a wall.
Ovbiebo was said to have died instantly.
It was gathered that the two other suspects, Martins Oluka and Austin Enayi, had been at large since December 12, 2017, when the alleged crime was committed.
