Victor Asuquo, 23 year old and generator mechanic, has been paraded alongside some suspected cult leaders by the operatives of police in Lagos.
Victor was arrested with a locally made gun at his residence in Olodi Apapa area of the State.
He explained that Police burst into his house at 2:00 a.m last Saturday in the company of his childhood friend.
Narrating his ordeal, Victor said his friend Shittu Abdullahi, a 23 year old Music Engineer kept the gun in his bag without his knowledge.
But the said friend, denied his claim.
Shittu narrated that he was given a gun by one deceased Ayatu to keep but he admitted that he in turn gave Victor the gun to keep for him.
He however said he traveled for sometimes before Police accosted him at the wedding ceremony of his sister following which he led police to his friend’s house.
Meanwhile, operatives of the Lagos State Police also arrested a total number of seventeen suspected cult leaders from their different hideouts and recovered nine pistols in the state.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Muazu while briefing journalists of the achievements said the suspected cultists were arrested between April 20 – May 19 in an intelligence driven operations.
According to the Commissioner of Police, the feat was achieved during a targeted intelligence driven operation carried out by the Command’s Anti-Cultism unit which lasted for four weeks.
The police boss said: “The suspects who allegedly belongs to Aiye and Eiye confraternity were arrested at hideouts in Ayobo, Shogunle, Oshodi, Ajegunle, Apapa, Ikorodu, Ketu and Alapere.
Names of the suspected cultists are: Faruk Olaiya, 19, Ayomide Joseph, 32, Aliyu Mohammed, 23, Shittu Abu 29, Victor Asuquo 23, Bolaji Ogunniyi 23, Adeyemi Samson, 35, Samuel Hensaw 18.
Including Michael Yusuf 22, Juwon Somade 26, Divine Enu 28, Godwin Adebona, 22, Salami Lasisi, 20, Tunde Akinbu, 28 Ayomide and Akinfolami, 26.
It was gathered that the suspects hails from Oyo, Kwara, Delta, Ogun, Osun and Ondo.
Also indigenes of Enugu, Ebonyi, Cross-river and Lagos State were arrested.
The CP however said investigation is ongoing and will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
